A reminder of the minimum wage increases.

A crucial part of your business is understanding the employment and work health and safety standards that must be adhered to for your employees.

The Fair Work Commission has in 2020 responded to many changes in the working conditions for many employees and employers in response to COVID-19.  Substantive issues have been addressed in specific awards making it necessary for employers to keep themselves up to date.

From the first full pay period from 1 November 2020 minimum wages will be increased by 1.75% for workers who come under Group 2 Awards.  These are industries such as higher education, construction, joinery and building trades, legal services, journalists, clerks and mining.  In total this will apply to around 70 awards.

As of 1 Feburary 2021 minimum wages will be increased by 1.75% for all Group 3 awards.  Group 3 are industries such as commercial sales, wine, general retail, fitness and airlines.  A full list is available if you click here.

Make sure to check any award changes applicable to your business and make the necessary modifications to your wages.  If you use a software system now is the time to make adjustments and be prepared for increases in advance.
